Air Purifiers

Most people don’t know that without an air purifier, indoor air quality in a weather-tight home can be a problem. Indoor air can actually be as much as 100 times more polluted than what’s outside. Smoke, pet dander, and pollen are just the start of the problem. Bacteria and viruses also become trapped. An electronic air purifier that filters the air every time your air conditioning and heating system cycles provides relief for allergy sufferers and protects everyone from harmful contaminants.

Otherwise known as “air scrubbers,” these devices need to be installed directly into your HVAC system. They aren’t designed to treat air quality issues — they’re engineered to eradicate the problem completely. These are the two most effective IAQ products we typically will recommend to the homeowners we work with:

This high-quality air scrubber is notable for its ActivePure® tech, which minimizes smoke and odors and helps to remove surface contamination. These systems include a UV bulb monitoring indicator and they cover up to 2000-square-foot spaces.

Aprilaire Model 5000 Air Purifier

According to Aprilaire, this model is the “only air purifier that captures more than 98 percent of dirty indoor air.” Among its many features, it can target particles up to a single micron in size and it requires very little cleaning or maintenance. Independent lab studies also show that Aprilaire Model 5000 is among the top air scrubbers when in terms of IAQ performance.

Programmable Thermostats

Maintaining a comfortable temperature throughout the day and night can be a challenge. Sometimes we forget to set the thermostat before everyone leaves the building and drive up energy costs unnecessarily by heating or cooling an empty space. Residential customers are opting for programmable thermostats that were once only available to commercial customers. No need to remember to change the thermostat before leaving for work. Our smart thermostats take care of saving energy and unnecessary wear and tear on expensive HVAC equipment. But at the end of the day, the air is the perfect temperature when you walk in the door.

Humidifiers

Dry heat in the winter causes a few problems for both commercial and residential environments. Respiratory issues such as dry throat and coughs or dry nasal membranes can cause illnesses. Allergies and asthma can be greatly relieved with balanced indoor humidity. It can also save on energy because dry air feels colder than moist air so we burn more fuel raising the temperature instead of the humidity. There’s also the problem of static electricity. Commercial and residential settings all have expensive and sensitive computers and electronic devices. That shock you get annoys you but it can actually damage to your televisions, monitors and other equipment.
